north norfolk 100mi tt

Postby ris » 11 May 2015 10:57

i'm doing this on saturday, off some time after 1pm for 5h+ of riding round fakenham.

apart from water / food (may have to place some on the course to collect mid-ride, as my tt bike isn't blessed with many cages, although i do have an aero bottle between the bars) is there anything else that aficionados of tt-ing think i might need?

i have a bike, and a stupid aero hat. i have shoes (no covers), i have a rear light. i have bibs / jersey (i don't have a skin suit - i think for this i might want pockets). err... so what have i forgotten?

Good luck ris!

If you can rope someone in to provide food/drink, that would be useful I'd have thought, but as suggested by others previously stashing stuff on the course seems a pretty safe option especially if it can be done near the start as it looks like a 3 lap course? I'd maybe plan to have something nice, food wise, for the end of the 2nd lap so it's something other than gels to look forward to.

Fingers crossed the weather's kind to you.

No suggestions - but will eagerly await your post event write up and shamelessly copy ideas re the hiding / recovery of snacks en route for my maiden 100 later in the year!
Good luck!

Is the resident pink eared Gym Bunny near the area? Perhaps she could offer you some support by throwing scotch eggs and tins of tomatoes at you?

Good luck and enjoy your crossword

bugger, roadworks that can't avoided have lead to the event being cancelled. shame :(

Bad luck - heard about this from a team mate who was due to ride (she did point out to me that last year, there was a triathlete riding it in a teeny swimsuit.... didn't want to tell her about your 'most disturbing in lycra' award....)

Turned up in Norfolk anyway just as the roadworks appeared to be put away. Terrible shame for the organisers to have that happen. On the off chance I went to the HQ and they had a lightly signed 21mi loop in place with tea and refreshments for after. I think they had 10-15 Tri Anglia members use the course, which was easy to follow and pretty quiet.
I managed 3loops in a bit under 3h and it was a good run out on the TT bike. Very impressed that they chose to take the opportunity to set something informal up - I was going to ride 2 laps of the 100 course but I think the one they set up was probably better.
Thanks TriAnglia! :)
