Gonna need some expert logistics but Ewan and I are 99% in for this.
This is the reply from the race organiser - very accommodating and encouraging....
So - anyone else in. Can't find the other thread .
Hi Ben
Many thanks for your email, sorry for the late reply but we have just got back into the office after organising the Skipton Triathlon which took place yesterday.
We would very much welcome both Ewan and yourself to come and compete in the Sundowner Triathlon in September.
We very much encourage participation for all and will certainly help in whatever way we can to make sure the both of you have a successful and enjoyable event.
Obviously, as you say you need to figure out the logistics of travelling up from Surrey, but hopefully that can be resolved.
As a little background on people we have helped in the past at some of our events, last year we had 3 teams from a local blind college take part. Having never completed a triathlon before, they wanted to prove they could do it. They had swim guides, a cycling tandem partner and a run guide in order that they could take part. All successfully completed their first triathlon. The feedback we got from the college was that their confidence in taking part had grown massively.
We also had a competitor take part on a recumbent bike after suffering from a road accident he had been involved in a couple of years earlier. He has already contacted us and is also looking to tackle the Sundowner as well. Again we implemented a plan for him to access his recumbent bike easily and had additional marshals available to help out.
We openly encourage anybody to take part and will honestly try and help where we possibly can, if there are any questions you would need to raise or concerns you may have, please feel free to contact us, we can discuss these and see if we can come up with a solution.
We would love to see Ewan and yourself travel up to take part in the Sundowner.
I'm glad you like the idea of the lunchtime start, we have found it has proved very popular.
Regards
Paul
