You need to investigate some of the history of the sport (and other ones too).

National union of cyclists.
British league of racing cyclists.

15 Mile Team TT

Postby Tritans » 23 Mar 2014 21:35

Well that's it. There's no way I'm joining a Union.
Looks like I'll have to retain my amateur status for the time being.
Although if Sir Dave is watching, I am prepared to give it a go for a couple of weeks. Maybe around July ?

Good work Ade

That feeling of dropping off the back & having zilch in the legs to close the gap is horrible !
Loving the massive quid win too

Good easily season tester and your latent fitness is impressive lol

A foreign concept to tritans. You will have to explain it to him.

From his perspective, it is a mix of frustration that the other person had disappeared, together with relief that you can have a bit of recovery.

15 Mile Team TT

Both very accurate emotions, although the frustration was tempered by being towed up Mount Hawthorne a few minutes previously.

Tbh it was more shock, he has been much quicker than me over pretty much every ride we've done (which is a lot). So it's set me thinking.

It will be interesting to see how we fare against each other in 10's this year.

P.S. your report just further convinces me that Drift road is a horrible place to TT - not only lumpy, but also always a grim headwind that can blow you virtually to a halt.
There also seems to be something about the place that causes course confusion (in my 25 there, I was all set to do 1.5 or so laps... luckily, an old gent at registration happened to mention the need to pass through the finish 3 times... otherwise, I would have stopped way to soon).
Nasty place!

Still, at least you have now proved that the cake DOES exist!

Come over to Chertsey and try a Hounslow evening 10 once they start (where Lloyd has also been sighted) - though that is a bit of a lumpy course too.

Yes I agree. I am encouraged that they describe it as a sporting course, which I translate into, hilly.

My over riding thought throughout, was that there is no chance of breaking the hour in the foreseeable future.

Im not sure about Chertsey, Lloyd also said it was lumpy, so I think I'll head West to H10/1 or 2

Need to start thinking about my next open.

Yes. That is a possibility. The only excuse on the horizon being the day after I return from the states. Not much of an excuse I grant you.
