Might be quite good for beach wear... I hate getting sand in between my toes!

Actually, do you reckon you could get away with these in a swim leg? Slip in to some oversize cycle shoes for the bike leg, then shoes off and away you go for the run?

Minutes shaved off your pb.

yeah the sore calves fits i with the idea of muscle wastage resulting from conventional trainers etc. I've been trying to move to forefoot striking anyway with some initial soreness I'm not completely adapted but hopefully there won't be too much of an adjustment curve.

In terms of T2 I think they take a while to put on but according to a friend who has a pair you get quicker as the muscles in your feet develop, still I'm not sure I'd wear them for racing (hence wanting Newtons too). Instead I think I'd wear them as a training aid for short recovery runs etc and to work on my technique.

Agreed they do look silly - but as already stated, who looks good in a tri suit anyway?

i'm having all sorts of trouble with moving to mid/fore foot striking. my gait is wonky through my left hip and i'm getting calf problems and some quite painful stuff with my peroneal tendon that is curtailing my running.

Yeah they can be a bit of a pain to get on in terms of getting your toes in snuggly. It also depends what type you get. I had the sprints but the classics would have been quicker to get on if that's what your after.

I was going to go for the KSOs. More similar to normal shoes but probably harder to put on.

I understand that forefoot striking is apparently better.. I even went so far as to try a pair of newtons at last years TCR.. But the one thing I've heard from other athletes who have tried the newtons is that put alot of stess on the calves.. and the recommendation has always been for me is don't even think about because of my size..

I actaully get sore calves when I use my invo8 cross country trainers that have no custioning and I tend to forefoot strike more..

I've been running in my Newtons for a few weeks now. I'm starting to get used to them now. Only short distances and a few hill sessions so far. I started FFS 2 years ago after I did my first marathon and my 5k times came down. Won't wear them for long distance stuff though. Only mad Ironamn winners woudl do that... :)
