Set a date for Forum switch

Postby Sir Conehead » 09 Jan 2010 17:34

Of course this is not for me to decide anymore (sniff sniff) but something for the SGM to consider -

The forum seems to be running pretty smoothly from what I can see - we seem to have avoided the sort of 220 forum esque catastrophy.

So with that in mind shall we set a specific day to 'officially' switch over and only use this forum? I know Dan Rice said a couple of weeks, but I think he envisioned lots of problems.

I was thinking maybe as early as next Friday 15th Jan - I'll could also e-mail everyone in club to let them know about the switch, put it on the homepage and also post on the 'old' forum for everyone to switch.

Any takers for 15th Jan? I'm not really posting on the other one now anyway.

Unfortunately the old posts cannot be transferred, but I will keep the old forum available for viewing just not posting. I'll go with the 15th then for the full changeover!

1. If it is possible*, disable "New Topics" now. Surprised that hasn't already been down.
2. On the 15th, disable all comment.

It is possible, even if you resort to an apache <limit> directive on the specific URL of add topic.
