Is an 810 any good ? Anyone got one ?

Tempted by the 1000 too - anyone got one of these ?

What would you say with regards to functionality and battery life ?

I've got an 810 and have used a 1000

The 1000 was quite buggy when launched, not sure if this has been sorted out as yet? Screen is much better than the 810's and gives you text/phone call/email notifications...not really useful as I use the bike to avoid all those sort of things. The 1000 does a lot more if you've got a PM attached but most of us haven't. The 810 Bluetooth's to your portable telecommunication device and can display weather data (you know if it's raining and which way the wind is blowing!), and a nice little feature is live tracking as you trundle around the countryside. Great on a sportive to follow someone's progress

If you want to wave your cock around at the top of Box Hill then go for the 1000, if you want something useful then get the 810

Been looking at them too recently. A lot of unhappy 1000 owners as the battery on lasts about 6 hours some people are saying. Been tempted by an 810, but have a niggling feeling a new one will be released in the next year.

If you want the "pro" image, then go with the 510. 810/1000 is for tourists.

You can put a route into the 510. It won't do turn by turn. But will tell you when you are off course.
