A strange alternative solution that some studies have found and confirmed is drinking a glass of tart cherry juice in the evening. I know that sounds weird, but it seems to work. The aging subjects in these studies had an increase in melatonin production and improved sleep compared with a placebo.28,29,30

207p
Have actually entered an event!
Hurrah!
One that I stand a chance of making the start and finish line for.
I have 8 weeks in which to get to a point I can :
swim 750m open water
ride 40k
Now that might not seem like much - but my longest continuous swim since Sept 2012 was 500m and my longest bike ride on the road was 16 miles.
So I have a way to go.
I have 8 weeks in which to do something that looks a little like training, whilst
a) continuing rehab for the knee / achilles etc
b) not breaking
c) being in a position to enjoy the race!
I'm absolutely giddy at the prospect of a race - I'm really looking forward to it - and then some!
I've done DNF. I've done DNS.

Not ruling out joining you. Need to look at the diary. It will probably clash with something.

Intrigued with being able to PLF without holding back for the run.

Cool - small race - 60 for the sprint and 60 for the aquacycle and only thirty quid...

208.2np
Plan for the week:
3 x verti run
2 x swim (hopefully one o/w)
3 x bike
If it looks like I might break, I will readjust.
Will also be doing a variety of stretchy/conditioning etc.
Not sure what's going on, but knees have been giving me a lot of gyp over the weekend for some reason.
Amy's away for the next three days, so I'll have the kids all to myself - which should make training interesting.

Verti run done. Ow, ow and thrice ow!
Flexibility steadily improving - I may lose my position as the Lord Mayor Upright of Uprightsville.
Then a steady half hour on the turbo - aiming for a nice easy spin to loosen everything off.
Now that the turbo's up, I think I'll try and jump on it for 30m every day this week, rather than do 3 lots of an hour.
Not sure how the swims are going to work out now. Possibly only one this week.

205.6np
Half hour turbo yesterday.
Feel like utter cack. Full of cold.
Hardly slept - maybe 3 hours.
Ended up pissed off and on the turbo at 6am.
Still feel like cack, but at least I feel rubbish AND I've exercised.

Have a chest infection.
So haven't done anything since the last turbo.
Missed two verti runs.
Still feel like cack and still not sleeping. Sadly, the cherry juice did nothing for me.
Eating properly has fallen by the wayside.
209.2np
Thoroughly fucked off at the moment.
Ah well. I can always race on latent fitness. From 2 years ago.
