Strangely, it all drops into place when I MTFU and get on with it rather than sitting around. I should learn from this...

7.20 am

Run; 20 km (12.5 miles) in 2:07'09". Today I acted upon yesterday's words: I decided to MTFU and JFDI. My first long 'run' in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside. I didn't underestimate the distance or the outside temperature (a fresh 5ºC) so I dressed and prepped appropriately: a Camelbak containing Morrisons' own brand sports drink; a pocket full of gels, just in case; compression socks underneath 'normal' socks; a liberal coating of bodyglide on all contact points and clothing to suit the weather (longs, gillet etc). As a result of this, I had a really enjoyable run with no chafeage or blisters and no dehydration or bonk. Good times indeed.

Screw the calorie count, I almost ran a Half today.

7.45 pm

Run - 1 mile in about 10 mins. In the final run-up to Birmingham, my sessions won't exceed 5km. This is mostly to avoid injury and to keep things loose while I'm away.

----

1800 calories.
