Dumb TT entry question

Postby CCS » 29 Apr 2013 19:17

OK... I am sure Jack has posted about this... but can I find the thread...

Anyway, I have taken a couple of bravery pills, and am filling the entry forms for some open TTs (all very complicated... can't deal with the lack of online entry... have got past the bit where you have to sit on park benches whispering codewords like 'the albatross flies at dawn' to old men in flasher macs... or did I dream that bit.. and have got to the entry form...) - if you have never ridden the distance before (am entering a 25) - what do you put on the form re past performance? Leave it blank - or offer a paltry club 10 result, just to prove to the organisers that you have at least ridden a bike before?
Any advice before I wimp out?

Thanks!!

" the albatross flies backwards at night "

If it is your first event just leave it blank, and with the entry form put in a covering letter, explaining it is your first event, and give them your best time for the distance you are entering, it is so they can seed you correctly and give you a start time accordingly, no big problem. Just remember to keep the results of the race for the next race entry form.

Well done for biting the bullet :D

You could mention your Windsor bike split.

You can put club events (but obviously in the right
Box for the distance).

Although as a female woman of the opposite sex you will have no problem getting in. :)

Faster people have preference over slower
Slower people have preference over those who have never done a race.
But women's events are never oversubscribed.

Whatever you do, for God sake don't mention your Windsor bike split.

Is that so you can mention yours when you send in your entry, knowing how disappointed you were not to do your team time trial.?

Better.

The times must have been done on a correctly measured course, and timed correctly. only club and open events fall into this category. But if the club 10 doesn't have a course code then it could be ad-hoc.

Am trying to re motivate myself. I'm going out tmro to have a spin around the thurs night 10 course, to see if I can find my mojo.

It was a lovely evening along by the Thames in Cookham.

Bit of a float night too.

Apart from the midges.
