Tyre suggestions please

Postby sonofsammo » 19 Feb 2013 09:59

It's been suggested that 28's might improve the issues I've been having with my hand. -
So I'm after suggestions for a 700 x 28 set of tyres for training - Must have good puncture protection!
Any ideas?
I currently have Trek all weather hard case on, which I love and have only has one flat in two years....
But can't find them as 28's - and am open to other suggestions....
I've done DNF. I've done DNS.
The future is DNE :D

Specialized Armadillo All Condition, http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-All-Condition-Armadillo-700c-Road-Tyres_41488.htm, had them on my hybrid for year, and, touch wood, no punctures. Also had them on my road bike, and did Bolton on them, again, no punctures.

+1 for marathon plus. I use them on my commuter (25mm like will) for london roads and never punctured with them. Have ridden 100mile rides on them and not really noticed the difference
No? Tough. We're doing it.

I have a 28c Gatorskin for my rear and a 25c for the front on my winter bike. Works pretty well as a combo. Couple of punctures over the years, but no tyres would ahve survived the shrapnel that caused them!

I *think* I have a pair of 28mm Specialized Nimbus Armadillos stashed away somewhere that I could send your way Andy. Used only once, so pretty much new.

Need to check though. Plus, they're more commuting-type tyres - but perhaps could be an option for training etc.

25mm gatorskin on front, and a continental somethingorother on the back. Probably ought to get new ones as the treads are full of little holes and nicks, but ridden them for 3 years without having to change them :D

+1 for the conti's

Put a new pair on today gp 4000 last for ever.

Is that you put a new pair on today, or you have just replaced a pair that lasts for ever, with another pair that lasts forever ?
