Tubeless Tyres?

Postby Woody » 09 Jun 2014 18:07

So, after being a numpty and somehow partially ripping the valve from the tubeless tyre on my CX bike I now have to replace a tyre with perfectly sound tread!

I'll try and glue it but I don't hold out much hope but I wanted to know if I can just replace with clinchers and separate tubes on the same wheels? They're just the standard Bontrager rims and the tubeless tyres do still seem to have a rim around them but then again...I'm about as much use as Ben is at leaving a sale room empty handed!

On a tubeless tyre system, you should just be able to get a new valve to replace the one that fell apart. If in doubt get Stans no tubes fitting kit and use that, or just stick an inner tube in it, the latter being the easiest and cheapest.

How did you do it? Did you trip over the bike and catch the valve as you never ride the thing? ;)

The valve is fine but the point where it attaches to the rubber has ripped :(

I like the idea of cutting out the 'tube' and whacking in a new inner tube! Cheers Jon! :D

In Ben's defence, he DID walk away from a lovely lime green lid he was itching to get at the expo in Sieraków. I promise.

(I have a sneaky feeling he would have bought it on the next day, but the stall had folded up and gone away by the time he got there... ;-) )
