South Coast / South East Training Events - Swashbuckler

...appear to be non-existent, so here goes.

(I'm assuming that by living in Southampton I am magically assimilated into London and SE)

Got a tri next weekend (2nd May) but on 9th and 16th I'm planning on doing the Swashbuckler bike route, possibly followed by a short run afterwards (say 30mins).

Pace will be far from race pace, I'd guess somewhere over 3 hours for the 50 miles.

On 9th I'd be starting sometime like 10am.
On 16th it will likely be earlier.

Fellow Swashbucklers and all other takers welcome.

Coffee and Soreen back at Castle Bopo (subject to WAT officer approval) for anybody who's travelled far.

/Gary

A mate describes the bike course as 'rolling and a bit lumpy'.

I'll be doing a lap of the bike course next weekend, Sunday 9th May.

Nice one bopo. Be interested to hear what you think. Was also wondering what the river is like and whether there's much flow. Don't suppose you could do a quick swim leg as well? :D

Is the bike course two laps? I guess I should be tapering that weekend so don't want to do the full thing (and i'm not doing the race anyway) but if there is a BCTTT ride on my doorstep I should try and turn up. Also what times are people planning on being at various stages of the course? I'll be recovering that weekend so will probably pop down to cheer on the BCTTT massive and try and take some photos of people.

Dave, have sailed up and down the Beaulieu a far number of times it is seriously gonna depend on the tide as to how fast/slow, easy/hard, clear/murky the conditions are. Not sure how much the water warms up in the river, but just around the corner in the solent the water was only 10.6 degrees on Sunday.

Could certainly be tempted to go down there, don't think I'm doing anything that weekend. I'll double check with the diary, I mean fiancee, and let you know

Kind of... it is two fairly equal (40km) loops, centred around Beaulieu with a route in/out from Buckler's hard to Beaulieu.

I've posted on the events thread about times, details etc here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1090

If possible, I will now use my forum super-powers to move this thread to 'Events'.
