I think it'd be doable in one go if you had two drivers who could switch every few hours.

Flying etc isn;t too bad, although admittedly I haven't been driving the other side. But that's safer for everyone concerned!

On a related note - can anyone recommend a god tow bar-mounted bike carrier?

Got a thule cheap and it takes 3 bikes £50 I think

Will find out from my mate what carrier has, we got four on it for Belgium on my car last year, easy to get on and off and no wobble.

Think mine might be a Thule one too. Really easy to use and quite to put on tow bar/put bikes on. Will try and remember to check.
