kask bambino

Few peeps may know that I rode the abu dhabi short course with the kask bambino as my aero lid. I said after the event I would put a review on here.
First things first - the kask may not be for everyone since everyones bonce is different, as I have found out when the Giro Selector was a terrible fit on me. I tried on the medium Bambino (Large not available yet) and it fitted perfectly. I had deep reservations about the venting so much so that I took my road lid with me just in case.
Few details on the Kask - there is a lovely leather chin strap with the clasp to the side of the head rather than under the chin which makes it more comfortable. There are 6 small vents on the front with grooves cut into the polystyrene to aid venting and the visor is magentic which can be rotated mid ride or just through it away like Wiggins..
So the I rode a 30min bike ride in properly warm sun to get a feel for whether the bambino was a goer... and it was but riding 66miles is differnt to riding 10miles so the crux would be race day.
In the searing heat the lid had no problems wiht venting but I rode without the visor and used my jawbones - there was enough room to fit a pair of glasses which was a relief. The air flow could be felt running underneath the lid - it was warm but no worse than any other lid. In fact it was very similar to the Vortice that I have.
In terms of feel - I did feel it a bit restrictive around the ears but this was more my fault than the lid as I hadn't given myself enough adjustment.
One thing I did notice was when I dropped my head ie looking down when going for a bottle etc then I noticed an immeadiate improvement on the lid since the air flow was passing over the short tail - there was no drop off in speed unlike a normal tail where it would catch the wind. If you move about a bit of bike then this probably is the style of lid you want.
After 66miles I still could have ridden further and really wasn't noticing the fact I had a nearly closed off lid on my head.
A cracking lid to have and would recommend but best to try on before you buy
