Book: Faster by Michael Hutchinson

No, not the stranglew*nk one.

Most definitely not a training manual, this is a look at the various things that the top end of cyclists do to make themselves faster. Very well written, often funny, and gives a fascinating insight into the world of trying to push the envelope at the highest levels of elite cycling.

And whilst I say it's not a training manual, it does help dispel some common myths that 'our level' deal with, as well as giving an extremely good layman's description of how the body produces power. I'll definitely reread some of the chapters again, with a view to taking away more of it that can assist my own training, recovery, nutrition etc.

Although you might not want to read it if you've spent substantial cash on a Louis Garneau Vorttice TT helmet

I willput it on my to read list, enjoyed his book about going for the hour record, however, if he is trying to damage my shares in Louis Garneau, I may sue

Also on the to read list is Training the Obree way, has anyone read that ?

:) It was your photo last night on twitter that indirectly reminded me that I wanted to write a review.

Obree book - got it, but not read it. Would be interested to know the thoughts of anyone who has read it.

Read the obree book. Wasn't what I expected. Not a lot in it. Ok for someone who has never done any cycling.

I was spectacularly disappointed. I thought I had the wrong book.

Popped it on my Kindle wishlist. Should be a good way of passing a few train journeys.

Sent from the rural east.
