OW swimming

Chaps and chapesses,

When do the lakes open for OW swimming? Is there a set date or is it dependant on the weather?

April it was up here last year.

Weather is one aspect but you need more daylight hours as lots of sessions seem to be early morning or evening.

For anyone London based I believe you can join the club that swims in Hyde Park, which you can do all year round?

I believe it was early May last year at Barton and Bosworth. Not sure what the situation is this year re Barton, if MVH have lost the OW swimming rights there?

Cheers chaps - I was also looking at Tooting Bec Lido ( 50m) and going there before and or after work.

How pissed off am I tha it opens at 7am and closes at 2pm. I start my shift at 0630 and don't finish until 1900hrs. So bang goes that idea.

Anyone know of pools open very early in South London area ?

My gym opens at 7am too. It's so frustrating.

Serpentine lido is opend 365 - membership is £20 for the year and you can swim there from 6 - 9am every day for that £20. My membership is in the post , and i will be starting there in March/April. Oh and it is about 100 yrds long so not too shabby for getting the distances up...my IM swim training will be going on in there mostly i think.

Still not open early enough.... there must be somewhere to swim pre 6am ?

If not - I think I have found a niche in the market. ( not that I can do anything with that niche)

I'm guessing that light is the main issue with pre 6am OW swimming. For general swim training - this looks like a good reason to buy/rent an infinity pool, i'm sure the wife wont mind!!! ;)
