Tubs and fitting advice

Got new wheels

got new tubs

got tub tape ( as advised by hussler) now another friend had told me to steer clear of tape and use glue.

I am confused and I really don't want to have a massive accident cos I didn't fit them correctly. So I have decided to put it to the masses.

Tape or glue ?

I shall go with the majority and if your not sure or don't know then just pick one.

Cheers :)

Both, then they'll never come off.

Caveat - I know nothing about tubs,at all. I've only ever used clinchers

I've still not been on mine... I want to try them out before Abu Dahbi to see how they feel.

The ice has only just melted and low and behold more snow forecast for Thurs....

I can't make the maintenance day but I'm going to Btown before I head off to AD, hopefully I can get the low down on how to change a tub just incase I get a punc during the race and I'll need to buy the gear to change it!!!

more cash....grr

Hmm I'm doing up an old school TT bike for fun in my spare time (HAHA) and with bargain parts I find on the internet. The bike is a lo-pro or 'funny bike' and uses the now unusual wheel size of 24' on the front. The only way I could find a reasonable wheel in that size was one that took tubs for £20 on ebay.

The wheel has an old tub on it but I'm not sure if I trust it. I have tub tape and a tub no experience with fitting tubs :( as above I'm scared of the tyre falling off the rim and ending up like this:

Tape is fine mate, holds just as good as glue and far less fucking about....less mess..... youll end up with glue everywhere....

Tape is quicker too.... I have always used tape with no probs..... just ask Jack and Shadow on how long it took me to remove my tub on the TOTP when I punctured.....and thats with tape!

The reason the tub comes off the rim in track cycling is because your not riding on flat at all.... its all on a camber so there are horizontal forces playing on it.....now unless your gona constantly going around a corner whilst riding then youll be fine dude..

and just for making a point cos im grumpy and tired 2nite after a hard days training.......your friend is talking out his arse to be quite honest....He obviously hasnt fitted tub tape correctly.
If you want me to fit your tubs when you come up I will do!!
