I don't think there are any Oly in April or May are there? Bit early in the season.

I think Eton Super Sprints are the 1st OW events of the season around mid May.

There's the Little Beaver OD at the end of May (29th I think), and that's OW.

http://www.conceptsport.co.uk run a couple of LONG sprints in April and may...

winchester is a hilly 20 mile (32 Km) bike and a 6 mile (9.5K) run - 400m pool swim, in April
salisbury is slightly shorter (bit not a lot) in May - the bike is rolling.

I;ve done the latter and I believe Bopo has done both in his time.

Dunno if they might help?

suffice to say if you chose salisbury then the saaf west massive would try their best to get down there to join you or cheer you on! or if you need accomodation - i'm about 90mins from salisbury.

I did both last year. Last year they shortened the run at Winchester to cut a hill out, This made Salisbury a much more challenging run. I wouldn't say Winchester is that hilly a bike ride, it's an out and back a bit uphill to the turn point. Salisbury was a more intersting bike leg. I'm probably going to do Winchester again (day after long distance rookie day though :o ), and if Salisbury didn't clash with my HIM I would do that again.

Currently in negotiations with work to see if I can get time off for this one.it is in Jack Hughes backyard so you might be able to twist his arm.
Are you doing the triathlon whilst your offspring tries to recoup some money with the neddy on the racecourse???

At the moment I have zero confidence that I will be able to swim 1500m OW, and against a current.

I'll see how I get on in my swim workshop.. OW swimming is on the TODO list for this year. August maybe..

Does anyone find it inspiring that it is organised by "Drinkwater Sports Management"?

Of course, if the river conditions are bad, then it will be a 10K, 42K, 5K duathlon. Which might be more tempting :D.

I'm thinking of the Scissett Triathlon on the 6th June - 1 week later (Pool based).
