Anyone got any good recipes?

Postby flavadave » 15 Jan 2010 15:53

No I'm not looking for something to cook the misses...

Remember a while back now, Hussler mentioned his misses cooks up a mean flapjack for training sessions and wondered if anyone else had similar? Not a great fan of powerbars... Clif bars are slightly better, but are still hard work.

Anyone got a tried and tested method? Any secret ingredients?

2 egg whites + 2 whole eggs + cup full of quick cook oats + 1 banana – chuck the whole lot in a hot frying pan for about 2 mins……healthy power breakfast….Done…..

Great banana bread recipe:

220g whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
100ml oil
185g brown sugar
2 eggs
6 medium, ripe, bananas, chopped into 1" rounds
2 tbsps treacle
1tsp ground cinnamon
1tsp ground nutmeg
1tsp ground clove
1tsp vanilla esscence
sultanas/nuts if desired

1. heat oven to 180C
2. grease two medium loaf tins (i use silicone ones as the loaves come out easily, put greasproof paper in them otherwise)
3. place all ingredients in a food processor and blend for 20-30s, do not over process. Add sultanas/nuts and blend for further 5s (to mix evenly not blend them)
4. pour into loaf tins, sprinkle with sugar & cinnamon
5. bake until a skewer comes out clean when inserted (around 50 minutes)
6. lift out and allow to cool on racks

Ingredients:
1 Soreen loaf
Butter
Grease-proof paper

Method:
Slice the Soreen into lovely thick chunks. Butter them. Fail to resist the temptation to stuff a lump into your face. Wrap the remaining bits in grease-proof paper and stuff into your jersey pocket. Serve with cool Lucozade sport.
I had fun once. It was awful.
