What's still (stubbornly) on your TODO list?

Postby Jack Hughes » 21 Dec 2015 13:40

The rather sad sight of Groundhog aka SonofSammo throwing in the towel on his triathlon ambitions has got me thinking about all the other things that I've not got around to yet. And the clock is ticking.

This is probably the big thing for me (admittedly, it seems a bit less daunting now that it did five years ago, but the conditions still aren't right to do it, so I'm not really making any progress towards it. Do I do an Ironman/long distance first though?

Swim across an alpine lake, then road bike up a mountain, then switch to mountain bike to go higher, then finally run to the summit of one of the alps. There's no loops, and it's basically climbing higher all the time. Sort of.

Looking at the photos cheers me up a bit. But still saddened by the aforementioned state of affairs.

Last year's age group winner (interestingly, I would be in the top age group now :D)

Bearing in mind that the LotSW had a m/km ration of 32.01, HotW 2016 has a ratio of 34.14, the stats for the inferno are

Swim: 0 (obviously)
road bike: 22.11
MTB: 39.33
Run: 87

And there is a fair bit of downhill too... so the uphill bits are pretty uphill..

I did wonder about that.

But I suspect that that might fall foul of the officials... would have to clear it first.

Still on my 'To Do' list?... Get a girlfriend

2017 going to be my big year as I will be 60 then; thinking of a DotM event possibly Stafford 70.3.
