Garmin Footpod

Does anybody have a footpod they no longer use?
I'm after one cheap (or to borrow!) for training with the verti run to chart progress (if it'll work, that is!)....

What's the metric you'll be charting? Speed/distance, or cadence? I've got a Garmin footpod, but it was a bit flaky - tending to report speeds of 20+mph. If that's any use or you want to try and fix it (I changed the battery, IIRC, and it was still the same), you can have it. I'll need to dig it out first though, as have no idea where it actually is...

I assume the application is to attempt to count number of steps in a session, and cadence.

I would be surprised if it works (accurately) in a vertical position though.

Unlike simple pedometers, this foot pod uses advanced MEMS inertial-sensor technology to analyze your movements and is responsive to stride-length changes to achieve 98 percent accuracy for speed and distance.

Whatever that means.

Cheers chaps - Jack's is winging it's way here as I type...
I'm after it to use on the verti run - mostly so that I have any sort of metric to see what I'm doing session to session.
Am hoping that I might get speed/cadence out of it. Will also track HR.
At the moment all I know is that I've gone from walking for 5 minutes to running for 20.
Which is pretty good in only 3 weeks.
I am very hopeful for the future, especially when combined with his lunatic torture tools and stretches.....
