You can still make performance gains as you get older.
But you are most likely to see these coming from aero dynamic efficiency, rather than power increases .
A power meter is even more important to inform you about your CdA.... and if you are making improvements.
speed = f( power, drag)
Very hard to work out drag if you have two unknowns.
The faster you get, the more drag increases (i.e. non linear as it is at least a square).
