Standard Double ( 53/39 ), and a 12x26 cassette ( I tried a 28 cassette but the short cage couldn't cope ).

Madness, in other words.

I think Chappers had 34x30.

Contador was using 36x32 for the Similarly steep bits on the T-A the other week.

I don't think that either are that much heavier than jon.e

34x28 for 15-20miles then 34x19 for the remainder .. Ouchy
No? Tough. We're doing it.

He was the one that got up most of the climbs that he didn't last year and it wasn't me. I was in the same setup as last year.

Grass!

Ewan also had a large cassette too, although not sure it went all the way up to 30.

Oi... don't drag me into this... What were your chainrings? ;-)

I had the same as Chappers - 34X28. Oh but my £5 cables kept on working :-D

Interesting... my gear was 38x30. Which, I think, makes it a bigger gear than a 34x28?

You grassed yourself up    .

I mentioned nothing about the previous panache winner cheating in an attempt to hold on to the jersey.
