I actually tried to work out where Jon.e was in terms of time I had been going and so distance from the start when we passed etc etc.

But all the blood was in my legs rather than brain so the sums were too hard to do.

Easiest option, buy a couple of IPhones and run the ' find my iphone App '

But would the course official DQ you for utilising a piece of equipment that allows you to ' take pace ' from.
The technology is simply enough to have a race map back at race HQ to run a live GPS tracking feed. The other downside is that if it was allowed the rider starting latter would have the advantage in a TT.But given the slight inaccurracy of GPS the results in a close race like ours could be reversed.

I was thinking more of relaying it to a web site for the crowd.... but not really any different than having a "Virtual Training partner".. i.e. exactly the same, but not virtual.

Ok. Here is a graphical representation of the race. I am the black line. Jon.e is the blue.

When he is behind, the blue is above. When he is ahead, it is below the black line.

The black line is a correct for the red line which is wrong as for some reason Jon.e started the segment while waiting on the line, rather than crossing it when moving as I seemed to do.

This device requires some set up funding, but it is small, link it in to a suitable app, that runs in parallel to Strava, it can track several devices at once.
If each device has a unique I.d. Code, you could enter the I.d. Numbers off the racers on the app, and watch the race in real time. Simples.
Put on a few other add ons to the app, have a yearly subscription, and there is your Dragons Den idea.
