Well done. The back part of the lap, with the wind behind you, is awesome. The top part very much less so...

As for working on your run, apparently bike fitness transfers well to the run (buy not vice versa) so may well be worth looking at pushing bike and the run to improve the run.

I did this in 2012 when I last did the Vit and it worked ok, but I still think a bit more running especially off the bike helps. This year I found that I deeply struggled on the Vit bike course, of what should have been one of my strengths. It was a very hard course this year - the wind was hellishly hard heading towards oakham, even when you turned left to head to the Ripple, it was still cutting through as a side. The second ripple, the steeper descent was a touch scary with the deep sections.

The run, simply was tough. The wind was actually cutting across the dam, but was making conditions feel cooler then they were. Which I suspect caught a lot of people out with the sun being quite warm but feeling cold with the wind.

Might have been just me and the motivation gap, but it felt like a permanent headwind all the way. :|

I think it's quite common that with two A races, one early and one late in the season, you suffer with a motivational blip... You had a very early start to the season training. And put in big volume weeks pretty much from the start. It's quite hard to keep that up, esp with a job and a social life as well... Something to bear in mind when you choose next year's races/goals. Perhaps try two A races within a month of each other, or choose substantially different goals so that the training gets properly mixed up... Etc...

But either way, a good season. And a good time...

Great race report - really got your emotions about the whole thing. I have to say though, with your 'motivational issues' that is still a time i'd be pleased with (but then maybe that is because I am a bit slower than you).

Well done. What are you planning for 2015?

Finally.... a conclusion!
Good work - you have been training hard for a long time, and I always find it can be hard to keep up motivation for late season events like the Vit. Still - a good time, even if it felt a bit meh!
Well done!
