" can be fidley to fit "

Translated into Tri-speak, means, lots of screws, difficult to tighten properly, but when done correctly can only be removed by either C4, or Bopos hacksaw.

Yeah Btown does that but I'm not going to drive 150 miles to get that from them. LIkely Sigma or Cycleworx instead. Or Ben's recommendation, DoctorD.

Massively under water over the last few weeks, but this needs an update, so:

Week 17 & 18: 3 x swim, 5 x bike, 5 x run, 2 x S&C, 2 x physio (!)

Consistency vs. Plan score: 9/17 (109/136, 80%)
Plan completion score: 6/10 (114/160, 71%)
Physio consistency score: 2/12 (25/46, 54%)
Weight: 91.6kg (WoW - two weeks - delta: +0.1kg, total delta: -8.2kg), 21.5% BF

Week 17 notes:

Solid week of training, despite the trip to Paris on Thursday that was bound to throw things out of balance a little bit (and it did - got me to miss my swim session on Fri).

Riding the new bike seems to be pushing me back a littke bit into the knee-pain territory (different geometry, different muscle dynamics, etc.) - nothing major or show-stopping, but starting to feel a bit tight, so need to up the game again on physio work to bring things back to norm.

Week 18 notes:

Traveling a lot, so training was patchy - picked up towards the end of the week when I came back home. 100km clocked in on the bike on Sunday, with plenty left in tank - which I'm quite happy about (last time I did 100km I was absolutely knackered).

Lost my way on nutrition with all the travel, but back to FitNat now and everything coming back to the (new and healthy) norm. I like.

Week 19: 3 x swim, 2 x bike, 3 x run, 1 x S&C, 2 x physio

Consistency vs. Plan score: 8/9 (117/145, 81%)
Plan completion score: 8/10 (122/170, 72%)
Physio consistency score: 2/6 (27/52, 52%)
Weight: TBC (WoW delta: TBC, total delta: TBC), BF: TBC

Another solid week of training this week - quite happy with how things have gone, only missed one session (unfortunately it was a bike ride, which I think I need to do more of, as I've been averaging just two rides a week lately, vs. planned three).

Running now up to 1h+, cycling up to 3h+ - and have to say I'm starting to feel the volume increase in my legs; muscles/ITB feel definitely "tighter" than they were, which - again - stresses the importance of physio work that I'm lagging behind on. Note to self: **** NEED MORE FOCUS HERE.... ****

Got promoted to Lane 1 at the Monday Kingfishers swim session and very quickly got shown where my place is. Which is most definitely not in Lane 1. It was VERY tough to keep up with the guys and I actually developed a bit of a twitch in my right shoulder trying to, which has been with me through the rest of the week. Thinking of skipping the swim tomorrow to let it rest a little bit - better safe than sorry. Let's see what the coach says.

BTW, the guy currently leading Lane 1 at Kingfishers is coming with us to Poland - he's taking Woody's place. Just for comparison - my 400m time is 6:21, his is 5:05... But then he's only 22, so has plenty of time to get slower, doesn't he. ;-)

Back to FitNat this week and back on track as far as weight loss is concerned. Came in under 90kg for the first time on Saturday morning (89.3kg @ 20.4% BF), but then had plenty of food out and a lot to drink at Mrs Jellybaby's 30th, so we'll see tomorrow morning where the weekend has actually landed me on. Chuffed nevertheless, don't actually remember last time my weight opened with an 8. :-)

Nearly 2/3 of the way to PL - getting ever so slightly anxious now. Made a list of kit still to buy before the race - Speedfil, better sunglasses (with ventilation between rims and lenses, so that they don't steam up when I'm tucked in), and a new wetsuit (I'm about 20kg lighter than I was when I bought my current one!). Broke the news to Mrs Kfjatek tonight - she was not impressed.

A few points if I may :

Massive slap in the back for the consistency Art. It's very impressive. It's never easy and you've managed to do so well. This alone will take you to what would have been first place amongst our posse but your 22 year old missile friend has ruined that. you shall have to settle for second.

Another big big we'll done is with the weight. Starting numbers with 8 is great news. Again - that'll only serve you in getting faster.

I have loads of oairs of sunglasses ( when I say loads I mean 25+) some of them look amazing but are awful for fogging up when tucked up. Happy to point steer you clear of any you might be considering if I have had e same issues.

What wetsuit you getting ? I got mine for £140 from the link Triumphant ( I think) put on here. Free clobber with it too!

Might be worth a look.

The running is good to. In fact it's all very solid so keep going and I'm excited to see what you do in Poland. Great stuff

Thanks Ben.

Haven't thought about the glasses yet - definitely something with vented lenses, so that they don't fog up too fast. May be Oakley Jawbones or sth, we'll see.

Thanks for the wetsuit pointer - will look it up. Haven't decided yet how much I'm going to spend on it, but that particular purchase will likely only come in May, when they open Shepperton Lake and I'll be able to test-ride some of the suits that Sigma stocks. Fit is king in this game.

They could only be one of two colours, so - pink, or fluorescent green? ;-)

And seriously - my thinking on glasses has actually evolved since yesterday; now thinking of some rimless ones to maximise field of vision. The top rim might be the reason of my neck pain when in aero-tuck (there, I've used the word again! ).
