50-day fat loss challenge

Postby scibby » 22 Sep 2013 14:13

Another return to Tri blog or something. Meh, little one is asleep on me (no doubt s wake up if I try to move) so I thought I'd make a list / plan of how I'm ever gonna get training again. Quick recap:
- mini me #2 was born 11 weeks ago, again by emcs
- I did no training during pregnancy
- I wasn't particularly strong before I got pregnant

So two pregnancies and two c sections in 36 months mean I am completely and utterly weak. I've been umming and arrrring about how to start some training again. And finally yesterday dragged myself to the gym.

Thoughts:
- I am really really weak.
- I am carrying quite a lot of excess blubber
- my glutes have gone AWOL. As has any semblance of core.
- I've missed doing weights
- I ran a mile (on the threadmill) and my groin was really achey. Similarly everything split stance eg lunges and step ups caused aches

So what to do... I need to focus. I KNOW I need to get strong before doing anything Tri-wise. S B R in this shape would be pointless and only lead to injury.

Meh dunno what else was gonna say and now my times up. Will edit later. Maybe.

Have a complete rethink. Do something different. You'll get cross making comparisons with then vs now otherwise. Have had two alien life forms leaching the nutrients out of your body, it won't be quite the same as it was.

Whoah everyone with the good advice. Scibby is n the BCTTT for Gods sake. What's wrong with throwing herself into training, entering loads of long distance events and breaking in a couple of weeks!

Haha. Thanks for the support guys!

Yes. Then and now are completely different. And I'm already driving myself mad with the comparisons. AND I'm unable to decide what to do and where to start: get strong, get lean, do some tri, just do running (and jibbs challenge), get a coach, start cross fit, etc etc etc. so I'm gonna write in done in bold and red

There is only one objective:

GET STRONG

I know this MUST be the precursor to everything else and there is no point in trying anything else until I'm 'strong'

Strong for these purposes will be defined as
- squat 100% body weight (starting point is 20kg, and ankles calves are very inflexible)
- deadlift 110 % body weight (no starting point as did straight legged but I'm guess I could do 30kg)
- do a pull up, wide grip (starting point is ahanahahahahahahahah)
- hold plank 90 seconds (currently 20-25 FFS and its agony!)

I think it should take around 3 months to get there but this does depend on how often I'm realistically able to train and it assumes that there's nothing wrong with my groin other than being bloody weak...

Nina can start crèche next week and with Elsa in nursery 2 days, a week I think training 4 times per week is achievable.

I've just deleted a paragraph where I was planning a weekly schedule of gym 3 times, one run, maybe a swim blah blah blah...

NO, just lift weights for now. Focus on one thing. How hard can it be????
