So this will be me signing off. You can pretty much write what you want now as I'll not read it till I get back. It's already been such an adventure. It's crazy looking back to December when I first entered my interest in doing it to February and getting confirmation of making the team. Then through all the training and madness that has been CH's programme of experimentation.
The training and racing has been testing in more than ones. Throwing convention out of the window and going full hearted into a programme mainly around technique, strength and conditioning and short duration but quality cardio workouts. It's eye opening to see how many hours (1/2 of my 215hours) have been gym orientated. Races have declined since a surprising performance at the Nuffield Tri in early May when I produced a near PB results off two months non specific tri training. I've then had cluster after cluster. Some and many my own fault, others out of my control. Each has been a lesson which is a frightening thing to now consider. I've been in this sport 6 years and I'm still being taught! Never an expert, merely a trier!
The numbers have come on leaps and bounds in more recent weeks. PB's in all lifts. 5km Run PB down. Swim performances off no training the same as at best performances for loads of training based on previous years. My first foray into TT's and a 2:09 for a 50mile. My longest bike session too by the way. My total weightloss has been 13kgs to this morning and a drop of 8% bodyfat. Of my 13kg weightloss - 2kg has been lean tissue. All the rest is fat.
I currently have no race plan other than a 'bike and run split negative?' message from CH. I'm not sure I need one. Swim at the front, make a pack, draft, feel strong. Bike steady. Sit on and maintain the pace. Ride hard and happy. Run - build it. Start slow and get faster. Eat and drink!
I huge thanks from me for all the banter, support, listening and advice. I've lost my way on a few occasions but I honestly feel like I've come out of it a better person firstly and better athlete. I have high hopes for next year when I come down to OD and sprint race distances. My commitment to training will be year round. My relationship is now in the best place it's ever been. I got a job promotion. It's turned out really well so far............just one final chapter - the race - to come.
I look forward to reading the banter on where he'll come, what time he'll do and if it's possible to be tracked - what is said as the race unfolds. It's gonna be one heck of an experience.
See you once I've come back from representing GB.............
P.S. Organisation has been shit from the AG Team Manager - had no info off them at all. CH - Yes. You were right!
