An imaginative title for yet another Scibby training log...

Blah de blah de blah....

After much too-ing and fro-ing I've decided I will try and get in shape for a triathlon this year.
This blog is mainly for me to chart my erm progress.
So after consulting time crunched cyclist and time crunched triathlon and a host of other plans, I've basically decided to ditch them all and do my own...

Then I ditched that and went ad lib

Then I wrote another plan. And missed 25% of my sessions...

So far it's been two weeks and still questioning the wisdom. Was doing well with my 4 weights per week. This week I did 5 sessions but feel like I've failed cos my plan had 7...

Ho hum....

Week 0
This week was about doing some SBR to see how much work I need. Of course the answer is alot but here's the detail anyway:

BIKE: Did an 8min FTP test.... Hahaha. My FTP is 140. But I can't sit still in bike, I can't keep legs turning. HR is CRAZY. Spending far to much time at 180+. The only positive is the I'm at my lightest.

RUN: Should have done a vo2 test but bailed. Because I can't run. Or jog. Again HR shoots up, I'm out of breathe. I have to stop. Really poor. The baseline is 4km on the parkrun circuit in about 30min.

SWIM: the only ray of relative sunshine... I can comfortably swim 2min/100m (yes I know it's not great, it's all relative.) Technique seems ok.
200m 4:09. Will take that for my first session in 18months...

So, Windsor is back on then?
Should be there with a couple of my local training buddies - you can show us old ladies how it should be done!

Jack - tried that . Didn't work. Yesterday's turbo was a disaster and I binned it after 30mim...
CCS - Windsor is a maybe. As for showing you how it's done..... Hahahahahahahaha. Can't run, can't bike. Can swim-kindof... Oh and defo NOT OD.

Swimming today. Went to Surrey sports park. Such a nice pool. First 'proper' session. 1800m. Sticking to limited rest periods (mostly 15s). I've restarted following my swimming programmes from April 2010 (though a bit more pull buoy at the end of session). Happy with that...

I forget how teeny-tiny-weeny you are.

140w/54kg is 2.6w/kg, which isn't too bad :D

You weigh less than my dog.

Lol. She says. While eating the children's Easter chocolates...
Short term target (end May) is to get that to around 3. And I think I could lose 1-2 more kgs. Although I'm light, I could be leaner. Plus summers coming. Allegedly...

Week 1

So somehow, I've managed to string together my stretch target of 7 sessions this week! Amazeballs...

Mon: Run. 35 min as 6min run, 1 minwalk...
Turbo. Cedric Wright. Not a good session at all. Banned it after 30 min. Legs super tired...
Tue: Swim. 1800m. Should've run too but had to miss as had doc appointment instead.
Wed: Rest.
Thu: Turbo. Hermit but missed the high intensity intervals and went for steady state instead (120w ish). 70 min, approx. longest turbo in a long while.
Fri: Rest. should've swum but BAT back too late.
Sat: Run 45 min as 6 min run, 1 min walk. Up and down Trodds lane (well, on a track). Felt good. Uphill focus was to maintain steady state, not quit, plod on. Downhill focus was fast feet. Bit of pain in knee towards end.
Turbo: Sisters. OK for first bit then dead legs.
Sun: Swim1800m, including 10x100m off 2:30. Swimming between 1:53 and 2:08...

I've noticed two things:-
- turbo is really rubbish if I'm doing the day of a run.
- completing 7 sessions means there's no time for other things I should do. Like housework, food shopping, proper family meal (Sunday lunch was at Starbucks after my swim!), etc. it's all a bit frantic...

But ho hum. Lets see if I can repeat next week. Then a few days off...
